Journal Entry: Describe the 3 most interesting things you learned from reading the article in your packet.

We filled in the first page of our Intro to the Middle East and Arab-Israeli Conflict Notes.  First we discussed what makes the Middle East a region:

• Language: Arabic
• Religion: Mostly Islam (the followers of Islam are called Muslims)
• Has more than half the world's oil reserves
• Ethnicity/Race: Arabs 
• History of dictators as their leaders
• Lack of women's rights

Then we did our reading titled Why are we fighting a war in Afghanistan and Why did we fight a war in Iraq?  As we read the article we filled in the questions on the first page of the note sheet.  We will be filling in the back side of the notes next class.
